CONNECTING THE SCREEN INDUSTRIES
WITH NEW TALENT
FROM DIVERSE BACKGROUNDS
FIND Scotland is a project designed to support 12 exceptional candidates, aged 16-24, from a broad range of diverse backgrounds with ambition and passion to work within the screen industries in Scotland. This exciting pilot programme which ran from November 2015 to February 2017 removed barriers into commissioning and employment for participants by developing existing skills, confidence and providing paid internships enabling them to successfully pursue their chosen career within the Scottish screen industries. Nine of the 12 participants are in full time or freelance employment or pursuing further training opportunities. We are awaiting news on further funding to run the programme again.
The programme finished with a forum at the Glasgow Film Festival in February 2017. The event was attended by an audience of industry professionals, funders and young filmmakers. It included a summation of findings from an external evaluation conducted by Arrivo Consulting, as well as a talk from Ali Bailey from Directors UK exploring how to address the lack of diversity in the industry. You can find a report summary on our Report page, as well as download the full report here: FIND Evaluation Report.
